Coffee and Chocolate Soap ... Yum!

Here is my latest soap from last Thursday.  I was excited to try out some new ingredients.  This is my normal base with a few yummy items added into the mix.

Coffee Soap

I used triple brewed organic fair trade coffee in place of the lye water.  

I also added in fresh coffee grounds in the mix for a little fun and exfoliation.

The lye water was mixed outside due to the stinky factor :)

Olive, Coconut, Shea, Cocoa and Castor

5% Superfat

Scented with Mocha Java FO 

from Camden Grey.

It has gotten much darker on the curing rack, can't wait to share a new photo

Dark Chocolate Soap

Olive, Coconut, Shea, Cocoa and castor

72% organic fair trade dark chocolate

5% Superfat

Unscented

I'm a little worried about the chocolate and whether or

not it will stain on a light washcloth. 

I was hoping for more of a mix of colors in my swirl

4 new soaps with natural colorants

I had some fun Tuesday night with my natural colorants and various pouring techniques.  The colorants came from Soap Making Resource.  I love that place!!

Olive, Coconut, Shea, Cocoa, Castor.

5% superfat

Colorant:  Activated Charcoal.

Unscented

first poured the non colored soap portion, about 2/3 at medium trace

High pour with the colored portion and

then ran a spatula up and down 

and back and forth in the mold

Olive, Coconut, Shea, Cocoa, Castor.

5% superfat

Colorant: Nettle Powder

Scented with Lime EO and Coconut FO.

First poured the non colored soap portion, medium trace.

At mid to thick trace I gently poured the colored on top.

Olive, Coconut, Shea, Cocoa, Castor.

5% superfat

Colorant: Indigo

Scented with Lavender and Patchouli EO

First poured about 1/2 of the non colored portion in to the mold

Then a light pour with the spatula over top of that

stuck the spatula in the mold after pour and jabbed a few time

up and down.

Olive, Coconut, Shea, Cocoa, Castor

5% superfat

Colorant:  Madder Root Powder

Unscented

In the pot swirl

Poured 5 dots of red into the soap pot.

Dragged the spatula from one spot to another

poured into the mold.

Soapmaking Saturday

Lemon Sugar Bar

50 % Olive Oil

20% Coconut  Oil

14% Shea Butter 

8% Castor Oil 

8% Cocoa Butter

Annatto Seeds infused in Olive Oil for Color

This bar took a while to harden and was a little oily when pulled out 

of the mold.  This is the first time that has happened. 

It was also the first time I used my silicon mold

from Bramble Berry

and my first time using this fragrance oil.

I split the batch in two after adding the fragrance and then

added the annatto infused olive oil to 1 portion

Then I did a spoon to swirl to get this color effect

alternating between natural color and annatto colored soap

I put it in a 170 degree oven turned it off and let it set over night

I had to wait until after the next night to cut it.

a little later.  These were late night very low light soaping pix.

The Annatto seeds infusing in the olive oil, I used a mini crock pot
